Wood purchasing

The PEFC™and FSC®certifications ensure sustainable forestry and are given special consideration when purchasing wood. Otherwise, only wood from sustainable, controlled forestry is purchased. For ecological as well as economic reasons, the purchasing area is within a radius of approx. 150 km. certifications confirm that round timber comes from forests managed to the standards of these schemes. elka itself holds chain-of-custody certification under PEFC (certificate DINC-PEFC-COC-000341, DIN CERTCO, valid until 28 February 2029) and additionally under FSC (SCS-COC-003333). Certified wood takes priority in our purchasing. To keep transport distances, effort and costs low, we buy round timber mainly within a radius of approx. 150 km around our plant in Morbach.
